Nest Monitoring Patrol

Did you know that you can join STCB for a sea turtle nest monitoring patrol between May and November? Find out how you can help us look for new and hatched nests on our main nesting site: Klein Bonaire!

You can join our nest monitoring patrol!

During our nesting season (May – November), we visit our main nesting beach on Klein Bonaire three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. We will take you in our boat to Klein Bonaire. There you will be walking along the 2 KM beach with STCB’s turtle experts looking for turtle tracks, both from adult females coming on shore to lay their nests an also from newly hatched sea turtles. We meet at 7:00 AM, in front of Bistro de Paris at the Harbour Village Marina, and the nest monitoring usually takes 4 to 5 hours. Please note that walking is difficult on the wet rocks and in the tide, so suitable footwear is important for your comfort and safety (e.g. crocs, diving boots). We also recommend you bring water and sun block.

Tickets are $40 per person ($20 for children under 12 years). Bonaire residents receive a 50% discount.

Reservations in advance required, please contact STCB at cepa@bonaireturtles.org.
